Artist statement

I am a visual artist working across various disciplines including sculpture, drawing and painting .

I make sculptures and installations by assembling disregarded objects together to create new interpretations, changing their functions and building unexpected relationships. My work varies in scale from very small pieces to large installations.

I explore many materials and techniques to explore the concepts of identity, displacement, fragmentation and belonging.

The sculptures I make are inspired by memories, superstitions and imagery from my own culture that I capture through drawings.

Drawing and photography are an integral part of my practice; they capture the initial ideas of projects that also have qualities that remain in the final piece.

My perception is molded by my Latin American culture. The past and present are interwoven with and element of spirituality, to create an environment of magic reality.
